Are We Truly Free?
As we prepare to celebrate Philippine Independence Day, I find myself reflecting on a question that has become more meaningful with each passing year.
Am I really free?
Many of us left the Philippines searching for a better future. We worked hard, sacrificed, and built new lives here in New Zealand. We are grateful for the opportunities, the safety, and the stability.
But sometimes I wonder…
Are we truly free?
Or are we still trapped in a cycle of working, paying bills, and repeating the same routine year after year?
Don’t get me wrong.
I love being a nurse. Nursing has given me opportunities, friendships, and experiences that have changed my life.
But over time, I realized that freedom is not just about earning a good income.
It’s about having choices.
The choice to spend more time with family.
The choice to travel.
The choice to help our parents.
The choice to support causes we care about.
The choice to rest without worrying about money.
That is why I will never get tired of sharing opportunities with our community.
