Years ago, I joined a beauty pageant back home in the Philippines — and I won a crown.
It was a big moment, but what stayed with me more than the crown were the life lessons: how to carry yourself with purpose, how to speak even when your voice shakes, and how to show up for something bigger than yourself.
So when I was invited to be one of the hosts of Miss New Zealand 2025, I knew in my heart it was more than just a stage—it was full circle. I said yes not because I’m comfortable holding a mic on a big stage, but because I believe in this year’s theme:
Beauty With a Mission.
More Than a Pageant
I’ve met some of the finalists, and I’ve seen what they carry—stories of self-doubt, silent battles with mental health, and the pressure to be enough in a loud, demanding world.
As an ED nurse, I see what most people don’t.
I’ve held hands of young women their age, who feel like they’re falling apart inside. I’ve seen lives cut short not because they weren’t beautiful—but because they no longer believed they were worthy.
And so yes, this may look like a pageant.
But to me?
This is a platform—a place where women are seen, celebrated, and reminded of their power.
My Journey to the Dream Life
I talk a lot about the Journey to the Dream Life.
But the truth is, it doesn’t start with big houses or travels. It starts when you stop hiding, when you dare to believe you can build something better. It starts with tools—and that’s what changed my life.
